Coach The Coach Week 2Joni Hammington in Queenstown

I could sit here and tell myself that I failed, that I couldn’t stick it out, that I am unorganised and not good enough to stick to anything.

Or I could sit here and say, Wow, that was a crazy week! I see I had a lot going on and I did what I could to stick to most of my goals and plans. Tomorrow is a new day, I have the chance to keep going.

What is usually going through your head when you get stuck in a similar position?

The way we talk to ourselves matters, we are worthy, we are doing our best, life is never linear, but we always get to start again.

It has been a rollercoaster, but I’m choosing to view it with compassion and a positive mindset.
Instead of beating myself up over what didn’t go perfectly, I acknowledge the challenges I faced and the efforts I made to stick to my goals and plans. It’s essential to remember that life is never linear, and we always have the chance to start anew.

This week I had leftover vegetables and a well-stocked freezer, which helped with meal planning. However, unexpected changes and challenges popped up each day, making it a little harder to stay organised. However I still managed to incorporate fresh foods, follow a low-carb diet, and practice intermittent fasting as planned!!!

During the week Queenstown finally got the snow we had all been waiting for. This calls for a trip up the mountain. While I didn’t bring my own food, I did make a healthier choice by opting for an amazing vegetable salad. Then on Friday night, I had a blast with friends over drinks, chats, a very late night, and followed by dinner out on Saturday. Who am I doing this much haha!

It was around 10 pm on Saturday when I decided to do an online food shop, which will be delivered on Sunday. I also took some time to plan out the upcoming week and convinced my husband, Luke, to join me on this journey.

Life is full of twists and turns, and that’s okay. What matters is our willingness to start again and recognize that even small changes add up over time. AND don’t forget….. It’s not about depriving ourselves but rather about enriching our lives with positive habits.

In my nutrition coaching practice, I emphasise the importance of starting with small changes and additions to our daily routines. If you haven’t already, I highly recommend reading “Atomic Habits” by James Clear, as it provides insights on habits.

As I head into the next week, my plan is to follow the meal plan to the best of my ability, while remaining flexible and compassionate with myself if circumstances change.
