Coach The Coach Week 3 ReflectionJoni Hammington in Queenstown

I’m at the halfway point. Considering all the curve balls that life often throws and the social situations we are in, I think I am navigating this well. What’s cool about following a meal plan or incorporating new daily habits is that when you don’t remove too much from your life, it all seems to come together and blend into your daily routine. Starting the week with a meal plan simplifies your day, reminding you that the effort is truly worthwhile. There is quite a spectrum of dietary approaches and it is essential to discover one that works for you. Focusing on whole foods, vegetables, fresh fruits, fibre and good amounts of protein, prioritising hydration and rest, significantly enhance your daily wellbeing. So, I am halfway in and even though my primary goal wasn’t weight loss, I have noticed reduced bloating, deeper sleep and lost a couple of kgs. The fasting days are challenging but Luke (who has joined me on this) and I remind ourselves that the following day we will be eating more again. The health benefits of fasting, both immediate and long term help support our effort. AS a female my body is so sensitive to the way I live – every single day it changes! Hormones that dictate my mood, energy, emotions and even bloating. Not to also mention stress, physical and psychological. Obsessing over having lost a specific weight or following a really ridgid plan can be a burden when things change so much. So this midway reflection is important to me. What milestones have I achieved? Am I dwelling over any setbacks? Do I use phrases like – I have to or I must do? What impact will this have depending on what I choose to do? I want to change the way I think about this journey and be kind to myself and of course compassionate. My markers of success aren’t about weight loss, but an increase in energy, better mental health, feeling physically stronger and improved confidence too. So what’s cooking this week? Chicken burrito bowls, kumara and potato frittatas, hazelnut crusted fish with greens, apple cinnamon smoothies, apple oat pancakes! These dishes provide nutrition, balance and amazing flavours! I’m Winning!! Joni
